Jennifer Lopez Says She Would Sometimes Question If She Was ‘Enough’ for Her Twins Max and Emme as a Single Parent…. Check In
The actress, who stars in the film ‘Unstoppable,’ shares her twins with ex Marc Anthony
Jennifer Lopez drew from her own experiences as a single parent when she channeled her newest role in her film Unstoppable
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, the actress, who plays champion wrestler Anthony Robles’ mom Judy Robles in the film, recalls how her own experience as a single parent to twins Max and Emme, 16, influenced how she looked at her Unstoppable role.
I’ve been a single mom at times in my life, and [I’ve asked,] ‘Am I enough for them?’ ” Lopez, 55, says. “And the truth is, all you need is really one good parent to love you.”
“You hear it in Anthony’s voice, and look what he’s been able to accomplish,” Lopez says of the athlete. “That’s what the movie gave me: You are enough.”
The movie centers around the life of Anthony Robles, who was born with one leg and explores the relationship he has with his mom, played by Lopez, and his family.
The real-life Judy Robles agrees, telling EW that she saw a lot of herself in Lopez’s performance.
She was able to really take on how I felt — the highs and the lows,” Judy says. “We long to be loved, and we want something impossible to work out. And even when we see it and we’re like, ‘But I’ve got to keep pushing’ — there’s always a little bit of hope.”
Lopez shares her twins with ex Marc Anthony. The “Vivir Mi Vida” singer filed for divorce in 2012 and it was finalized in 2014.
In November, Lopez appeared on an episode of The Graham Norton Show and shared that taking her summer off to spend time with her kids — after the cancellation of her This Is Me… Live tour in May — was “the best thing I think I’ve ever done.”
“I decided to take this summer off and be home with the kids and it was the best thing I think I’ve ever done,” Lopez said.
“It’s not like me to do that,” she added of her summer break.
