Video: Taylor Swift Thanks Chiefs’ Travis Kelce During MTV VMAs Acceptance Speech
Superstar recording artist Taylor Swift shouted out her boyfriend, Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, during her acceptance speech at the MTV Video Music Awards on Wednesday night.
After she and Post Malone won the award for video of the year for their hit song Fortnight, Swift thanked a long list of people, including Kelce:
Swift noted that Kelce would applaud after every take of the video, and she added, “Everything this man touches turns to happiness and fun and magic, so I want to thank him for adding that to our shoot.”
The mere mention of Kelce elicited a hugely positive reaction from the live crowd, further cementing the idea that he and Swift are among the most popular celebrity couples around.
Travis’ supportive presence on the set of Taylor’s music video was fitting since Taylor attended Chiefs games throughout the 2023 season and was often on hand to cheer for Travis.
That included last season’s Super Bowl, as Swift embraced Kelce on the field after the Chiefs outlasted the San Francisco 49ers in overtime.
The Chiefs are looking to become the first team in NFL history to win three consecutive Super Bowls, and Swift is now in line for a major three-peat of her own, as she won her second straight VMA for artist of the year on Wednesday.
Swift also completed the three-peat with her third straight video of the year award, joining her videos for All Too Well: The Short Film in 2022 and Anti-Hero in 2023.
Kelce wasn’t seen at the VMAs as he prepares for the Chiefs’ Week 2 game, but there is seemingly a good chance Swift will be on hand to support her boyfriend once again when Kansas City hosts the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday.
