Lady Gaga unveiling why she Refuses To Address Rumors She Was A Man… See More…
Lady Gaga recently revealed why she believes it’s pointless to address rumors she was a man that coincided with her rise to fame in the 2010s.
The “Poker Face” hitmaker sat down with Bill Gates as part of his new Netflix series “What’s Next? The Future With Bill Gates,” revealing why she never felt the need to publicly address the “lie”.
“So, when I was in my early twenties, there was this rumor that I was a man, and almost every interview I sat in, they said, ‘you know, like, there is a rumor that you are a man.’ The reason I didn’t answer the question was because I didn’t feel like a victim with that lie. But I thought about, what about a kid that’s being accused of that, that would think that a public figure like me would feel shame.”
The songstress explained that assumptions began over a decade ago after a “doctored” picture of her face spread across the internet. Gaga told the billionaire that, instead of attempting to silence the rumor, she flipped the narrative.
“I’ve been in situations where fixing a rumor was not in the best interest of — I thought of the well-being of other people. So in that case, I tried to be thought-provoking and disruptive in another way. I tried to use the misinformation to create another disruptive point.”
Per Page Six, this is not the first time the “Bad Romance” icon has deflated bold speculations about her gender. She got candid about the topic with Anderson Cooper in 2011, relaying that her fans didn’t care, so why should she? Referring to the rumor that she had a male appendage, Gaga stated:
“Maybe I do. Would it be so terrible?”
The standout recently confirmed her engagement to fiancè Michael Polansky, and has been seen wearing her giant diamond engagement ring on multiple occasions. She is currently gearing up to release her seventh studio album, LG7, and feature film, Joker: Folie à Deux, out this fall.
