They are still moving forward with the divorce,” a source close to Lopez tells PEOPLE
Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck are committed to keeping things “friendly” amid their ongoing divorce proceedings.
A source close to the Unstoppable actress, 55, tells PEOPLE that she and the Accountant 2 star “are still moving forward with the divorce” as they “continue to focus on the kids.”
Lopez is mom to 16-year-old twins Max and Emme with ex-husband Marc Anthony, while the Oscar winner shares three kids with ex-wife Jennifer Garner: Violet, 18, Seraphina, 15, and Samuel, 12.
“They want to show the kids that things are amicable,” the source says, adding, “They want to stay friendly. There’s still a lot of love.”
Lopez filed for divorce from Affleck on Aug. 20, which marked the second anniversary of the pair’s traditional wedding ceremony in Georgia. They initially married in Las Vegas on July 17, 2022.
The actress and singer filed in Los Angeles County Superior Court and listed April 26, 2024, as the date of separation. Lopez filed for divorce herself without a lawyer and was technically self-represented. The reason for the split was cited as irreconcilable differences.
Lopez requested no spousal support for either party, and a source told PEOPLE that the exes didn’t tie the knot with a prenuptial agreement in place. The papers also indicated that Affleck and the Atlas star would split attorneys’ fees, and that Lopez wants her last name restored.
Despite their breakup, the duo have seemingly remained on amicable terms, and even reunited for a friendly lunch on Sept. 14 that included four of their five kids (Violet, who is currently attending Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut, was not present.)
Lopez and Affleck also came together multiple times to celebrate his kids in the months ahead of Lopez’s divorce filing, including for Violet and Samuel’s graduations.
Following their Sept. 14 get-together, a source told PEOPLE that the former couple were “still moving forward with the divorce” and “working out financial details amicably.”
“They all came together for a fun lunch so the kids could hang out,” the insider continued, adding that “a divorce is never easy,” and “the kids always got along and have fun together.”
“It makes [Lopez] happy seeing the kids happy together. Happy kids are her priority,” the source said.
