Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck can’t seem to quit each other. The divorce is still happening, but they seem to have trouble letting go of the fairy-tale ending they were supposed to have after their reunion. The former dynamic duo is proving that they are just like any average couple who are struggling to end their relationship once and for all

It’s been a confusing time for fans, too. After a summer apart, Lopez and Affleck were spotted enjoying a cozy lunch at the Beverly Hills Hotel with their kids on Sept. 14. That PDA date proved that they are each other’s kryptonite — they play into each other weaknesses, according to an In Touch Weekly source. “Jennifer craves romance and adulation,” the insider said while noting that Affleck “is always looking for the next rush, whether it’s good for him or not. Ben’s treading a dangerous line being so handsy with his estranged wife.”

Those blurred lines are where any relationship can get messy, and it was Lopez herself who told the world that she was thinking of Affleck for almost two decades after their 2004 split. “It was so painful after we broke up. Once we called off that wedding 20 years ago, it was the biggest heartbreak of my life. I honestly felt like I was going to die. It sent me on a spiral for the next 18 years where I just couldn’t get it right,” she explained to Zane Lowe of Apple Music 1 in November 2022

The feeling was mutual because the sometimes grumpy Affleck gushed about Lopez to Adweek in September 2021 when she was honored as their Brand Visionary. “All I can tell you is that I have seen firsthand the difference representation makes because I have seen over and over and over and over, women of color approach Jennifer and tell her what her example as a strong woman and a woman succeeding and demanding her fair share in the business world means to them,” he raved. “I am in awe of what Jennifer’s effect on the world is.”

Lopez and Affleck might be experiencing that tug of war between the heart and the mind. The heart wants to stay, but the mind knows that it is best if they go their separate ways. “She had this notion that it was meant to be and that things would work out the second time around,” the In Touch Weekly source added. “But even though there’s clearly still a physical attraction between them, the conflicts are still there. This could all just cause more resentment.” Love is never easy!
