An unidentified Dallas-area man has been going viral this week for spending $4,000 on a guitar signed by Taylor Swift only to immediately smash it with a hammer.

The person in the viral video — likely voting for a candidate running on a platform of inflation killing the middle class — spent $4,000 on the instrument signed by Taylor Swift, only to then take a hammer to it (instead of the more aesthetically pleasing visual of just smashing it into the ground).

The guitar was donated to the Ellis County Wild Game Dinner in Dallas, Texas, prior to Swift’s endorsement of Vice President Harris, according to reports. Since being posted to X, formerly Twitter, on Sunday night, the video has racked up over 127,000 likes (at the time of this writing).

A certificate of authenticity confirms Taylor did sign the instrument, which was donated to the auction by a third party. The donation was not intended for destruction … but the buyer paid for the item and chose to smash it up himself. After her endorsement, former President and convicted felon Donald Trump said that she’d likely “take a hit in the marketplace” as a result of her endorsement. Swift taking a break from her historic, billion-dollar grossing The Eras Tour, which will be embarking on its final leg in the coming months.
