Breaking News: Jennifer Lopez Says It ‘Took 30 Years’ to Know She Doesn’t Have to ‘Grow Old with Somebody’ to Feel ‘Whole…. See More
The star opened up about embracing the single life while speaking with Nikki Glaser for ‘Interview’ magazine
Jennifer Lopez learned she can feel complete without having a significant other
In a newly published conversation with comedian Nikki Glaser for Interview magazine that was conducted Sept. 10, the star, 55, spoke about realizing she can find happiness on her own.
“For people who are romantics and love being in relationships and want to grow old with somebody, we think, ‘I have to have that to be whole and happy.’ And you don’t, ” Lopez said while speaking about embracing single life after she filed for divorce from Ben Affleck.
“It only took 30 years,” she added with a laugh, after Glaser, 40, praised Lopez’s mentality.
Lopez, who has been married four times, wed Affleck, 52, in July 2022 after rekindling their romance in 2021. The couple’s relationship appeared to hit bumps in the road by spring 2024, and they spent much of their summers living separately. Lopez listed their date of separation as April 26 in her divorce filing.
The conversation for Interview magazine touched on a wide range of subjects, including her movie Unstoppable, which premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival in September.
When asked to what degree she pays attention to online rumors and speculation about her life, Lopez said, “I’ve been doing this a very long time, I hate to admit. I like to think that I’m still 16, but I’m not.”
“I know that everything that’s being written and said about me, and all the conjecture of who I am as a person, is not who I am,” she added. “I learned that a long time ago. And social media, because it came along after I had been in the public eye for a while, I don’t take it as seriously as everybody else.”
“I know I’m a good person. I know I’m a good mom. I know who my friends are. I know my friends know who I am, my mom, my dad, all that stuff,” said Lopez. “If you hope to have a long career, you have to learn how to deal with that part of the business.”
