Just In: Buckingham Palace Releases Stunning Photo of King Charles and Queen Camilla—But I Spotted Something Super Strange… Check details
King Charles and Queen Camilla touched down in Sydney, Australia on October 18, kicking off his first visit there since he became monarch. The king, 75, and his wife, 77, are embarking on a royal tour that includes several days in Australia and Samoa.
After a rest day at the beautiful Admiralty House, today Their Majesties will begin their first day of official engagements in Australia,” reads the caption of an Instagram post shared by @theroyalfamily on October 19. “The King and Queen will attend church this morning, before His Majesty visits the Parliament of New South Wales. See you there, Sydney!”
The photo shows King Charles in a gray pinstripe suit and blue tie and Queen Camilla in a blue dress with a scalloped neckline and a gold brooch. They’re standing in front of the Sydney Opera House.
I noticed that her ensemble looked familiar. After doing some digging, I realized that her dress seems to be the same one that she was wearing in a projection on the Opera House. (At first glance, I thought King Charles was also wearing the same outfit in the photo that he’s wearing in the projection. Upon closer inspection, it does appear to be different.) Fans gathered around the iconic landmark as giant photographs of the royals from their previous visits to Australia were displayed.
Could they have snapped these pics right after landing in Australia for the projection specifically? Or did they plan to wear the same clothes as they did for the portraits that were released with the official announcement of the tour?
According to People, Queen Camilla is wearing a cobalt blue Fiona Clare dress with the Australian Wattle brooch, a gift from the nation’s government to Queen Elizabeth. The late monarch wore it many times throughout her tenure on trips to Australia. Not only did Queen Camilla wear this sentimental piece in the portraits announcing the tour, but she also wore the aforementioned blue dress.
Interesting—I wonder if the royals’ stylists (or maybe even the royals themselves) plan their OOTDs months in advance. I’d want a crown too if I had that kind of forethought.
