Angelina Jolie‘s marriage to Brad Pitt was the last time she was in a serious relationship, and it might be why she’s hesitant to start seriously dating again. Even though she’s been rumored to be dating British rapper Akala, the 49-year-old actress has preferred to keep her romantic life on the back burner.

Still, Pitt has moved on with his love life with Ines de Ramon and they’ve been together for two years. The duo recently made their red carpet debut at the Venice International Film Festival on Sept. 1. According to Us Weekly, Pitt is “very committed to her and their future” now that their relationship has taken a “serious” turn. The 31-year-old jewelry executive reportedly “brings out the best in Brad” and “has been his rock through” all of his recent scandals with Jolie.

“It’s been nearly a decade” since the two Oscar winners broke up and the In Touch Weekly source believes that Jolie is still nursing her wounds. “Before she met Brad, she was so fearless and very quick to let love in, but these days she’s the complete opposite,” they added. “She just refuses to allow herself to be vulnerable, and it’s obvious that her trust in men has been destroyed by what she went through with Brad.

But Jolie should be allowed to take the time to feel good about herself and fans must remember that she was linked to The Weeknd in 2021 and now, Akala — so maybe her love life is just off limits to the public — or, at least she’s trying to keep her private life off the paparazzi’s radar. The Sun reportedly caught her and the musician “on a string of secret dates” in London in mid-October. The Maria star has yet to confirm anything about her love life though, and that’s probably her way of protecting herself. Jolie is going to stay quiet until she’s ready.
