Bad News : Passenger Missing From Taylor Swift-Themed Cruise After Falling Overboard…. See More
A 66-year-old woman on a fan-led Taylor Swift-themed Royal Caribbean cruise is missing after falling overboard before the ship docked in the Bahamas.
The search is on for a missing cruise ship passenger.
One day after a fan-led Taylor Swift-themed Royal Caribbean cruise departed from the Port of Miami Oct. 21, a 66-year-old woman fell overboard. At the time of the incident on the evening of Oct. 22, the ship 17 miles north of Nassau, Bahamas, the U.S. Coast Guard confirmed to E! News.
In partnership with the Royal Bahama Defense Force (RBDF), which is leading the case, the Coast Guard has diverted an airplane and helicopter crew from Air Station Miami for assistance. U.S. Officials emphasized, “At this time, rescue crews from both the RBDF and the U.S Coast Guard are still searching.
Royal Caribbean also issued a statement confirming their full cooperation amid the scary situation.
“Our crew immediately launched a search and rescue effort and is working with local authorities,” a spokesperson told E! News. “We are also providing support and assistance to the guest’s family during this difficult time. To respect the privacy of our guest’s family, we have no additional details to share.
The Allure of the Seas left the port with hundreds of Swifties as part of a four-day fan-led cruise to CocoCay, Bahamas, hosted by travel agents from Marvelous Mouse Travels and was called “In my cruise era.”
The event—which the travel agency emphasized was not endorsed or affiliated with the Grammy winner and TAS Rights Management—would include a welcome cocktail party, friendship bracelet swapping, dancing, karaoke, scavenger hunts, door decorating contest, trivia and “nightly eras outfit themes,” according to the event’s website.
“We’ll be we setting sail from Miami,” the website continued. “Whether you’ve got tickets to the tour or not, we invite you to join us for a fan sponsored amazing time! Join us as we celebrate all things Taylor, make new friends, dress up in our favorite eras, trade friendship bracelets, and enjoy everything this amazing ship has to offer!”
E! News has reached out to Marvelous Mouse Travels for comment and has not yet heard back.
Marvelous Mouse’s CEO and founder Kari Dillon previously shared what inspired the Taylor-themed event.
“We’ve seen more and more over the last few years that people are looking for experiences,” she shared on the Humans of Travel podcast last November. “When you take a group of superfans or those who have similar interests, they want to gather and celebrate their shared interests.”
