Ben Affleck’s friends have told him to get a grip as he falls into a “toxic pattern” of messing Jennifer Lopez around as the pair continue their divorce following two years of marriage together.

The 55-year-old On The Floor singer filed the documents on August 20, the anniversary date of their wedding, and revealed they had been separated since April 26 in news that only confirmed the rumors of their dramatic martial decline since mid-2023.

Then came another twist as the pair were spotted hanging out at the Beverly Hills Hotel, where they were spotted kissing each other before leaving in a car.

However, there is no chance of reconciliation on Affleck’s side as an insider claims he is simply indulging in addictive tendencies, unfairly at Lopez’s expense as his friends tell him to snap out of it.

“Ben’s got a very addictive personality, and a lot of people think now that he’s sober, he’s switched vices and become a love addict,” the source tells In Touch. “It’s obviously giving him some sort of buzz to be sort of back and forth with J. Lo, even though he has no intention of going any further than having a little fun.

“For one thing, he’s messing with J. Lo’s head, which is not kind. And it’s also sending mixed messages to the kids, which isn’t healthy. It’s just putting everyone back on this awful roller-coaster.

“It really seems like he’s falling into a very toxic pattern, in the long run this isn’t going to be good for anyone. Ben’s still saying that he wants a divorce.

“It just seems very self-destructive to be going down this path and people are begging him to get a grip and start acting with a little more intention instead of just following every urge he gets.”

Can Lopez ever forgive Affleck?
The split was very sudden and very aggressive between the pair, who spent their anniversary and their birthdays apart from each other as Lopez flew to the eastern seaboard of the United States, putting 2788 miles between her and her husband.

But despite the kiss there is no chance of the couples rescuing their marriage because of Affleck’s shock decision to move out of their shared home and never return, initially moving to Brentwood before then relocating to Pacific Palisades, essentially abandoning Lopez.

“She’s made it plain she’ll never forgive Ben,” another source told In Touch. “For being such a cold-hearted jerk and giving up on the marriage in such a savage manner.”
