Crying during a movie is common for most people, but now we know that even Denzel Washington has a soft spot for one very specific Marvel movie.
Denzel Washington, the famous actor of films like ‘Malcolm X’, ‘Training Day’, ‘American Gangster’ and ‘The Equalizer’, and that soon will be in cinemas again with ‘Gladiator 2′, has had a career in Hollywood for more than 40 years, obtaining up to two Oscars and eight other nominations. But even a performer of his stature has no qualms about admitting that got emotional about a Marvel movie, to the point of not being able to hold back the tears. Yeah, Denzel Washington cried with ‘Black Panther’; which he recognized years ago during the press tour of ‘The Equalizer 2′, ensuring that the Marvel Studios film made him think about his beginnings as an African American actor and Hollywood.
‘Black Panther’ made Denzel Washington cry
This was recognized by Washington himself, assuring that he “shed a tear’ while watching ’Black Panther’, film starring Chadwick Boseman and directed by Ryan Coogler and that won up to three Oscar awards for a total of seven nominations: “I ran into Chad [chadwick Bosman] and Ryan [Coogler] before the movie started. It was their … screening in New York. And I was just talking to them, and then I went into the movie. And in the 40 years I’ve been in this game came back to me.”
I was like ‘Man, look at these young boys!’ I was like ‘oof!’ You know Sidney to now,” he continued. “And I’m in the gap; me and many others. Man. I felt like the third leg in a relay race. Like “Here, go!” I’m still running, but [looking at ‘Black Panther’] I was like, ‘Man, they’re gone.’”
