King Charles is said to have given Prince Harry an ultimatum when he quit the royal family alongside his wife Meghan Markle, but the monarch’s words were not heeded

When Prince Harry and Meghan Markle expressed their desire to leave the royal family, King Charles presented them with two options. According to reports, the monarch told the Duke of Sussex that they could either remain within the “safety tent” of the UK and royal life or be “cast away and castigated as comprehensively as possible.”

The couple ultimately relocated to Montecito, California, after stepping down as senior royals. It is alleged that this ultimatum was intended to minimize the threat of them overshadowing the royal family.

However, in his memoir Spare, Harry claimed that neither he nor Meghan anticipated losing their security upon leaving the royal family. The Duke of Sussex stated that his family lost their palace-provided security, leaving them exposed and that he had initially believed the palace would uphold its “implicit promise” to maintain it.

Nevertheless, this was not the case once they left the UK, and it is now believed that Harry is funding his own security to protect himself, his wife, and their two young children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet. Residents living near the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have noticed that Prince Harry is often seen with his security team, even when out for bike rides.

Neighbor Richard Mineards told The Telegraph that Harry is commonly observed strolling on the beach, cycling, or occasionally dining out, but always in the company of his security. It seems Harry hardly ever leaves home without his protection squad, reports the Mirror US.

Neighbors have also mentioned their failed efforts to greet the royal pair, hindered by the stern-faced security personnel. Local author Frank McGinity, who penned ‘Get Off Your Street’, shared his disappointment in his book after being turned away at Meghan and Harry’s grand Montecito home.

When attempting to deliver some films about the history of their posh neighborhood, McGinity was briskly told “they’re not interested” in forming neighborly bonds.
