Breaking News: Tom Brady Sparks Backlash After a Recent Outing With His Sons — & We Love Seeing the ‘Brads, Chads & Dads’ Mad…. See More
Taylor Swift has been under a lot of heat lately. First, people claimed she “ruined” football by showing up to support her Kansas City Chiefs tight end boyfriend Travis Kelce (the NFL disagrees). Then she made people mad by stepping into politics and endorsing Vice President Kamala Harris for President (prompting Donald Trump to famously write, “I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT!” on TruthSocial). But now, the tables have seemingly turned. Retired NFL star quarterback Tom Brady just flipped the script by going to the “Karma” singer’s Eras Tour stop in Miami — and bringing his two sons to help cheer her on! Now, Brady is facing backlash for this amazing dad move, and we just love seeing the “Brads, Chads, and dads” mad, IYKYK
It all started when the GOAT shared a picture of himself with his arms wrapped around his son Jack, 17, who he shares with ex Bridget Moynahan, and his son Benjamin, 14, who he shares with ex Gisele Bündchen (they also share daughter Vivian, 11, who was not pictured).
The gang does @taylorswift. I think I learned I’m a Reputation guy ” Brady captioned the post, praising the Grammy winner. He also shared photos of him standing back-to-back with Jack, who is officially taller than his old man, a photo of him smiling with his arm around Benjamin, and a short clip of Swift singing during her Reputation era.
People were big mad about this. (And, no, not because it’s near impossible to get tickets to this high-demand tour.) “Handsome men but sh*tty taste in music,” one person wrote.
“Awww that’s lame Tom super lame,” someone else said, while others resorted to calling Brady and his kids “gay” for liking Swift, one of the most popular musicians on the planet.
“This was a bigger L for Tom than Super Bowl 42, 46, and 52 combined,” another person rudely wrote. Still others resorted to conspiracy theories, like the one where Swift and Kelce are dating for PR. “Tom I never thought you would ‘buy’ into the KC rhetoric and the NFL’s plan to shove them into another Super Bowl. Unwatchable. #thefixisin,” one person said. Um, OK … moving on.
Luckily, there is still some good in the world, because many people were thrilled over this example Brady is setting for his sons and boys everywhere. “Real men go to Taylor Swift concerts,” one person wrote, generating over 6,000 likes. Another said, “I love that you did this with your guys! Can we normalize guys also liking Taylor Swift please.” Hard agree!
“It could be said Taylor swift is the Tom Brady of Music or the other way around!” someone else wrote. Another joked, “Look what you made Tom do.”
In an interview with TIME last year, Swift opened up about how she is unconcerned with what people think about her — or if they are annoyed to see her face on TV when she is supporting Kelce. “I don’t know how they know what suite I’m in,” she said. “There’s a camera, like, a half-mile away, and you don’t know where it is, and you have no idea when the camera is putting you in the broadcast, so I don’t know if I’m being shown 17 times or once.” Swift added, “I’m just there to support Travis. I have no awareness of if I’m being shown too much and pissing off a few dads, Brads, and Chads.”
And if she does, so what? So many other people love how her involvement is getting more young girls interested in the sport. Like Brittany Mahomes, wife of Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes. She told E! News in June that she appreciates the attention Swift has brought to the game. “I love that it’s getting young girls into football so that they can watch it with their dads. I feel like most dads out there love it when their daughters are like, ‘I wanna watch football!’”
The Kansas City Current soccer team co-owner believes that “it got a bunch of beautiful little girls out there, and a lot of new fans that we love and adore.” And apparently, this support goes both ways, as athletes continue to take their sons to Swift concerts! You love to see it.
