Breaking: Whoopi Goldberg Just Tripped Over Her Own Two Feet on Live Television…. Read More
The talk show host suffered no apparent injuries from her near-fall.
Whoopi Goldberg threw The View audience for a loop on Monday, November 18, when she narrowly avoided hitting the deck during the opening moments of the show. Fortunately, the trip was short-lived: Goldberg quickly righted herself, and the show went on without any further interruptions, on or off script. In retrospect it appears that Goldberg didn’t actually trip over anything—other than her own two feet.
I don’t know what I tripped over,” Goldberg said as she sat down. “It was crazy. I was like, skip, skip, skip, ah! I thought, oh, here I go. So, I’m steady on my feet now!”
Of course, Monday’s incident was not the first time that a host of The View has lost her footing: in 2022, Joy Behar (the longest running co-host of the show) almost fell getting into her swivel chair during a Hot Topics roundtable. The show has since switched its chairs to non-swivel seats in order to avoid another mishap.
I always fall, I’m a klutz,” Behar said. “I fell the other day in my kitchen because the rubber of my shoe hit the floor, and I went flying. What does that have to do with age?”
At 82 years old, Behar has been on The View for 26 seasons. Goldberg, meanwhile has been a co-host since 2007. She recently made headlines for her comments that she could not afford to retire. “If I had all the money in the world, I would not be here, okay?” she said on her birthday, November 13. “So, I’m a working person, you know? My kid has to feed her family. My great-granddaughter has to be fed by her family. I know it’s hard out there.”
