Just In: Roger Goodell Responds to Idea of Taylor Swift Becoming Part-Owner of Chiefs….. See More
The NFL Owners Meeting kicked off on Tuesday, leading to discussions and votes being cast for multiple approvals in the league. The owners approved of the Jacksonville Jaguars stadium renovations, and they also finally approved Tom Brady becoming a part-owner of the Las Vegas Raiders.
Tom Brady Officially Approved as Minority Owner of Las Vegas Raiders
Brady had been waiting a year for his approval after NFL owners expressed issues with Brady being an analyst while also being a part-owner of an NFL team. The Patriots legend was hit with multiple restrictions like not being granted access to other teams’ facilities or practices, along with broadcast production meetings.
Despite the steep restrictions, the NFL owners approved Brady’s request, making him an official part owner of the Raiders. Brady joined Tom Wagner, the co-founder of Knighthead Capital Management, in purchasing a 10 percent stake in the Raiders. Brady now owns approximately five percent of the team
With the excitement surrounding Brady being a part-owner of the Raiders, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodwell was approached about the possibility of an even bigger star potentially becoming an NFL owner.
Goodell was asked if pop sensation and current NFL diehard Taylor Swift would be approved to be a part-owner of the Kansas City Chiefs.
According to Albert Breer, “NFL commissioner Roger Goodell, with Tom Brady approved as a Raiders limited partner, was asked if anyone has approached Taylor Swift about buying a piece of the Chiefs. He laughed and said, ‘If she’s interested, I think she has the ability to do it.'”
Swift has become one of the biggest celebrities in the world, along with being a huge celebrity for the NFL. She began dating Chiefs star tight end Travis Kelce and has stolen the spotlight in every game that she has attended. Though there is no telling how long the pair’s relationship will last, it appears Swift has become a mega fan of football
Goodell might have laughed at the idea, but his statement of Swift having “the ability to do it” might tie directly into her fandom and the droves of fans she has brought along to the NFL.
The Chiefs organization might want to think about adding Swift as a part-owner, simply because of the exposure the team has gotten since she arrived. She, of course, needs to be interested, though.
