The Kansas City Chiefs’ latest loss to the Buffalo Bills in the regular season is another example of reigning league MVP Josh Allen’s brilliance. The performance from Allen received a reaction from Chiefs defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo, courtesy of ‘Inside The NFL’ as the teams left the field last Sunday.
“I don’t want to play you anymore”, said Spagnuolo jokingly while shaking Allen’s hand, “I want you to retire.”
During six regular-season games against the Chiefs, Buffalo, with Allen as the starting quarterback, has dominated with five wins. He has 11 touchdown passes and rushed for five more touchdowns. The consistent teardown of Spagnuolo’s top-tier defensive schemes has become a regular occurrence during the rivalry.
“I wish I had a secret to that (laughter). Listen, in the course of the game, the best thing that can happen for us is that all eleven function as eleven,” said Spagnuolo before the 2024 AFC Championship. “He’s (Bills QB Josh Allen) one of those guys – especially up front, and if you’re talking about the four or five guys that we bring – they need to function as one because (if) he finds one little seam and if we have guys in man with their back turned I mean that’s where he – I’ll tell you he’s one of those guys, and you know, you have all seen it – he sees everythin
Spagnuolo could get his revenge during the postseason, where he holds a 4-0 record against Allen and the Bills.
