The Duke of Sussex had a photo visible from his royal wedding day — and also wore a very British accessory

Prince Harry seemed to have a special photo with Meghan Markle displayed while appearing virtually at a NATO meeting.

On Oct. 30, the Duke of Sussex, 40, spoke to the NATO Military Committee at NATO Headquarters via video teleconference about the Invictus Games Foundation’s mission of uplifting wounded, injured and sick service members and veterans through sport. The NATO Headquarters is in Berlin, Germany, and an Invictus Games Foundation delegation attended the meeting in person.

A statement said that the group briefed the Military Committee about Invictus and how it is accelerating its vision. Prince Harry, a former captain in the British Army, launched the Invictus Games as an international adaptive sports tournament for wounded, injured and service personnel and veterans as a means for healing in 2014.

While Invictus is synonymous with the competition held biennially in different cities around the world, it also offers programming beyond the games, with the aspiration of building a global network of support for wounded, injured and sick veterans.

Prince Harry appeared at the meeting via video screen, and he pinned a red poppy onto his suit lapel. Every November, members of the British royal family are known to incorporate the symbolic flower into their wardrobes. Poppies have been used since 1921 to remember honor service personnel who died in war, and the red flower is closely associated with the U.K. and Commonwealth countries for Remembrance Day on Nov. 11.

King Charles’ son sat before a set of white shelves, where a photo from his royal wedding day appeared to be displayed. Prince Harry and Meghan, 43, married in a fairytale ceremony at St. George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle on May 19, 2018, and what looked like a framed photo of them in their wedding finery was spotted behind him.

Queen Elizabeth conferred her grandson Harry as the Duke of Sussex on his royal wedding day, making Meghan the Duchess of Sussex upon their marriage. In 2020, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex stepped back from their royal roles and relocated to her home state of California, where they continue to live with their children, Prince Archie, 5, and Princess Lilibet, 3.

Prince Harry and Meghan have a major event to look forward to in February 2025, when the seventh iteration of the Invictus Games will take place in Vancouver and Whistler, Canada.
