Why Taylor Swift’s Reported New Rule for Her Travis Kelce Relationship Makes Complete Sense
Now that there is a break in Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour, it feels like her relationship with Travis Kelce has risen a notch. The dynamic duo was spotted in New York City taking in everything from a slice of pizza to the U.S. Open. Their level of fame is so bright that having moments of privacy have become increasingly important as they figure out the next steps in their romance — that’s why the 34-year-old singer has reportedly created new rules for Kelce.
“Travis loves to show Taylor off,” a Life & Style source revealed. “She appreciates it but she’s cautioning him from revealing too much about their private lives.” The couple hit the one-year mark which is notable because they are “very happy to prove the doubters wrong.” Still, they need to set up boundaries, so their love isn’t constantly in the headlines.
There’s also Swift’s terrifying brush with terrorism at her canceled concerts in Vienna, Austria in August. Describing the experience as “devastating” on Instagram on Aug. 21, the “Lavender Haze” singer wrote, “The reason for the cancellations filled me with a new sense of fear, and a tremendous amount of guilt because so many people had planned on coming to those shows. But I was also so grateful to the authorities because thanks to them, we were grieving concerts and not lives.”
So, it’s understandable that she’s asking her boyfriend to be “a little more discreet” as they move into the second year of their relationship. “He wears his heart on his sleeve and says what’s on his mind,” the Life & Style source added while noting that he often reveals little Swift secrets on his New Heights podcast. Still, Kelce understands what it takes to date a superstar and both of them are “100 percent committed to making this relationship work.” Teamwork makes the dream work!
Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift got to enjoy a little quality time together in New York City, but Kelce couldn’t stay for tonight’s MTV VMAs. Page Six reported on Wednesday morning that Kelce had to return to work. “[Travis] had to be back in Kansas City by Tuesday for practice,” a source explained.
The Kansas City Chiefs player just began his NFL season and is set to play his next game on Sunday at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, Missouri, against the Cincinnati Bengals. Swift attended his first winning game against the Baltimore Ravens last Thursday.
Kelce spoke on today’s episode of New Heights about his well wishes for Swift at tonight’s show. “Hopefully Taylor can walk away with a few [new VMA awards],” he said. “She’s nominated for about 10 of those things tonight. Hopefully she can walk away with some moon men. Those are always one of the cooler trophies.” (Swift is actually nominated for 12 awards this year if you include the
Kelce has never been able to join Swift at an awards show. He spoke about not being able to attend this year’s Grammys to cheer her on, because the Chiefs were practicing for the Super Bowl.
“I wish I could go support Taylor at the Grammys and watch her win every single award that she’s nominated for,” he said on The Pat McAfee Show in late January. “But I think I got practice on Sunday. I know I got practice Saturday, but Sunday is a travel day. Unfortunately I’ve got to get ready for this big ol’ Super Bowl that we’ve got in a week.”
He added in that same interview that he hopes people are supportive of them as a couple. Their love story is a “a beautiful thing, isn’t it?” he said. “And then hopefully everyone realizes that we’re just two people in a relationship supporting each other and having fun with it, man. It’s nothing more than that as much as the world wants to paint the picture and make us the enemy, we just have fun with it. We enjoy every single bit of it. And sure enough, I love it when Taylor comes to support me and enjoys the game with the fam and friends. It’s been nothing than just a wonderful year, man.”
Swift and Kelce celebrated their one-year anniversary this summer.
Travis Kelce’s relationship with Taylor Swift has positively impacted his life in many ways, including expanding his vocabulary.
On the Wednesday, September 11, episode of their podcast “New Heights,” Jason Kelce discussed the “bad blood” between his brother Travis Kelce’s Kansas City Chiefs and the Cincinnati Bengals, the Chiefs’ Week 2 opponent.
“OK, bad blood,” Travis, 34, said. “I hear you, bad blood
Jason, 36, responded, “I don’t even try and do it, but it just happens,” making note of the correlation between the “bad blood” between the Chiefs and Bengals and Swift’s 2014 song of the same name.

Travis joked, “It’s just in you now. It’s in you.”
“Well, no,” Jason said. “I just think she does a good job of using these very common phrases that people would use regardless.”
Most people except Travis, it would appear.
“I had never heard of bad blood until she … ” Travis said, before Jason cut him off. “You gotta be … ,” Jason said with a laugh. “Bro
Mercifully for his brother, Jason moved things on to another topic. But later in the episode, Jason brought up the phrase again in discussing his experience in San Francisco on Monday, September 9, where he made his debut on ESPN’s Monday Night Countdown before the 49ers game against the New York Jets.
49ers fans, for the most part, were very nice and respectful,” Jason said. “I know there’s been a lot of bad blood between the Eagles and 49ers. I’ve never said a bad word about the 49ers because I respect them as a team. I know there’s been a lot of trash talk involved. I stay out of all that nonsense.”
Despite the largely warm reception, Jason — who retired in March after 13 years with the Philadelphia Eagles — mentioned he did receive “a couple boos.”
