Breaking News: Simone Biles Gets Emotional Amid Potential Career Turning Point…. See More
Simone Biles is turning a page in her career as the greatest gymnast who ever lived. On Sunday, the 27-year-old closed a chapter in her book after she performed in the final show of the 2024 Gold Over America Tour, aka the GOAT Tour.
Biles and a selection of other U.S. gymnasts put on a show at Little Ceasars Arena in Detroit on Sunday in what was the last of 32 shows across the nation. This pop concert-style spectacle celebrated the achievements of Biles and other members of the national gymnastics teams (both the men and the women) during their highly successful run at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
For her part, Biles could not help but get a little bit emotional as she embarked on the final show of the month-and-a-half-long tour. The 11-time Olympic medalist took to Instagram on Sunday night to share a heartfelt message.
“last show day bittersweet,” Biles captioned her post.
A few hours later, Biles followed up her first post with a second photo in which she is seen sharing a moment with her teammates as they watched themselves on the big screen.
Biles included three white heart emojis in the photo as she tagged fellow gymnasts Jordan Chiles and Joscelyn Roberson.
This moment could be considered a turning point in Biles’ career now that she hasn’t fully committed to taking part in the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics. At 27, Biles has already reached retirement age for gymnasts, which is why there is currently some serious doubt as to whether or not she will still compete at the Olympic level four years from now.
As it is, Paris could have been her swan song, and Sunday’s show could have been her final GOAT show ever. It would be sad if this were the case, but at the same time, Simone Biles would have gone out at the very top if she decided to call time on her unprecedented Olympic career.
