Duke and Duchess of Sussex join Colombian Summit to champion online safety
Meghan Markle has paid a heartwarming tribute to her eldest son, Prince Archie, as she rejoined her husband, Prince Harry, in their first joint appearance since their August tour of Colombia.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex appeared in a video message at the inaugural Global Ministerial Conference on Violence Against Children in Colombia, where they discussed the importance of combating online violence against children—a cause close to their hearts.
For the occasion, Meghan wore a £1,645 Ralph Lauren blazer, a piece first seen during her pregnancy with Archie in 2019, subtly nodding to her five-year-old son.
She paired the blazer with a simple black t-shirt, completing the look with soft waves in her hair and a natural makeup style.
Prince Harry, dressed in a black blazer with a traditional poppy pinned to his lapel, joined his wife in delivering a powerful message of advocacy.
The couple called for urgent action to protect “the most vulnerable in our world” from the growing threat of digital violence.
During their two-minute speech, Harry and Meghan addressed the importance of reassessing and redefining how we protect children from online harm.
Harry began the conversation by emphasizing that we are at a crossroads where the need for immediate change has never been more urgent: “While the necessity has always been apparent, it is now time to translate that awareness into meaningful action.”
Meghan spoke about the role of technology, acknowledging its benefits but stressing the need to better understand and address how digital violence against children is evolving in 2024.
The video message, filmed in California where the Sussexes now reside with their children, Archie and Lilibet, ended with a sweet moment as Harry wrapped his arm affectionately around Meghan, showing their united front on this important issue.
