Least Update: Simpsons’ Actor Hank Azaria Sends ‘Offer’ to Taylor Swift…. See More
Hank Azaria, who voices Moe the Bartender, Chief Wiggum, Comic Book Guy and many others on the Fox animated series, made the offer to Swift on Tuesday while performing one of her songs. Azaria fronts the Bruce Springsteen tribute band, Hank Azaria and the EZ Street Band, modeled after the New Jersey rocker’s own group, the E Street Band.
Azaria decided to follow in Springsteen’s steps by not only performing his songs, but also offering for Swift to come on tour with him. In a video posted to X, formerly Twitter, he sang the 34-year-old’s song “Anti-Hero” in the style of Springsteen’s voice.
One time @springsteen invited @taylorswift13 to join the E Street Band … just so she knows, the offer stands to join @theezstreetband as well,” Azaria captioned the post.
In 2022, Springsteen was asked by late-night TV host Jimmy Fallon if he would welcome Swift to appear as a guest on one of his tours. “She is welcome on E Street any time,” Springsteen said at the time.
Azaria first came up with the idea to perform as Springsteen for his 60th birthday party.
“I had the crazy idea that I would like to sing some Springsteen songs to surprise people at my 60th birthday party … At first, I wasn’t sure I could capture Bruce’s singing voice—talking like him is no problem, I mean, that’s my day job,” Azaria said of his job on The Simpsons per The EZ Street band’s website.
The actor then became obsessed with singing like Springsteen and practiced relentlessly for six months until he nailed it. “I’ve never worked harder preparing for any role than I did in perfecting a singing vocal impression of Bruce Springsteen,” Azaria said.
Springsteen was recently in the news for endorsing Democratic presidential candidate, Kamala Harris, and performing at her rally in Clarkston, Georgia. He sang acoustic versions of his songs “The Promised Land,” “Land of Hope and Dreams,” and “Dancing in the Dark.”
The rocker also spoke to the crowd at the rally to explain why he was voting for Harris and her vice-presidential candidate, Tim Walz. He said he wants “a president who reveres the Constitution, who does not threaten, but wants to protect and guide our great democracy, who believes in the rule of law and the peaceful transfer of power, who will fight for a woman’s right to choose, and who wants to create a middle-class economy that will serve all our citizens.”
Springsteen said, while Harris was “running to be the 47th president of the United States,” Republican nominee Donald Trump was “running to be an American tyrant.”
