Meghan and Harry had always hoped that when Queen Elizabeth died, Charles would take a less strict view of what it means to be a working Royal. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's potential return to royal duties: Is a six-month plan in the works?

“The American public would have much preferred it if Harry had not given up his Royal role – that’s all he’s ever been trained for and that’s the main thing that made him interesting. Now he’s lost that, why should anyone in the States be interestedHarry and Meghan’s decision to keep their royal titles despite stepping down as full-time working royals, and it’s also well documented that he is in favour of a slimmed-down monarchy. At this point, any royal return for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex looks less than likely.”The other thing is even if he [Harry] doesn’t have armed protection, he will get the liasion structure that would go with it. In other words, as far as it’s humanly possible if RAVEC decided through intelligence – and they get the best intelligence there is – after this furore over his protection, you can rest assured they have gone over it.

“They have stood by it, the government has stood by it, and the Home Office. It’s nothing personal, and as a former professional, I would apply those principles of, ‘Is it necessary and does the intelligence warrant it?’

“Every time he’s been here of late, to see his father or royalty, he’s had royalty protection.”
